Files you download from the Internet are often compressed or zipped so that they take up less space and arrive much faster than files that haven’t been compressed. You can easily identify compressed files by their extensions, such as .zip (a common standard used in OS X and Windows) and .sit. Before you can use these files, you must learn how to unzip files on mac computers for proper access – luckily the process isn’t that complicated!

How to unzip files on mac computers
EDIT Didn't see you said you had a mac. Drag your save to the desktop. Put that file in a folder (New folder) Right click the folder and click 'Add to archive' a list will come up, on the far left it says.rar ir.zip. Jan 10, 2014 This is the scariest map of minecraft history. None has ever done something like this on VANILLA minecraft! Amazing sound and texture pack. New features from 1.7.2 Lots of Jumpscares and scary ambiance The best thing about this map it does not give you blindness! It has an amazing story If you cant open a rar file.
Unzipping a file on a mac computer is user-friendly and intuitive. To unzip files on a mac, simply follow the steps below:
- Minecraft is a sandbox crafting game where you can unleash your imagination to create anything from scratch. The game is presented in 3D where everything in the world is made of cube blocks. You can mine these blocks to harvest resources and craft tools.
- Download the Minecraft: Java Edition server. Want to set up a multiplayer server? Please note: This server setup is only compatible with Minecraft: Java Edition. If you want to run a Minecraft multiplayer server by yourself things get kind of involved (see this wiki article for a tutorial). First make sure you can use java from the command line.
- Double click the zipped file.
- The file will automatically be decompressed by Archive Utility into the same folder the compressed file is in.
- Access the extracted files by clicking the appropriate icons.
Alternatively, if the method above does not work, you can right-click on the .zip package, and select Open With > Archive Utility (default).
Apple and third party software
Apple used to include a program called StuffIt Expander to decompress zipped files, but doesn’t now that OS X lets you unzip files (but not .sit files). However, StuffIt from SmithMicro Software still comes in handy for opening other types of compressed files, notably the .sit or .sitx compressed types. Go to www.stuffit-expander.com or www.stuffit.com/mac/index.html to download a free version of the software or to splurge for the Deluxe version. In addition to compressing files, StuffIt Deluxe lets you encrypt and back up files.
Meanwhile, you can archive or create your own .zip files through OS X, which is useful if you’re e-mailing a number of meaty files to a friend. Right-click (or Ctrl-click) files you want to compress inside Finder and choose Compress Filename. The newly compressed files carry the .zip extension. The archive is created in the same location as the original file and is named originalfilename.zip. You can also choose File→Compress. If you compress a lot of files at once, the archive takes the name Archive.zip.
By default, compressed files are opened with the Archive Utility. It appears in the Dock (in Leopard) while the files are being unsqueezed, unless you choose to open them with Stuffit Expander or some other program.
How to zip files on a mac
On the flip side, you can also archive or create your own .zip files through OS X, which is useful if you’re e-mailing a number of meaty files to a client or friend. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to easily zip files on a mac:
- Right-click or Ctrl-click the multiple files you want to compress (whether on the desktop or inside the Finder).
- Select Compress Filename from the pop-up menu.
- The files are now compressed in a .zip extension and the archive is created in the same location as the original file name, except with the .zip appended to its name.
On some Apple computers, you can also compress a file by simply choosing File→Compress. If you compress a lot of files at once, the archive takes the name Archive.zip.

Important Notes
Aristois was created and is designed for the Official launcher only.
As an exception, our Installer works for the third-party launcher MultiMC, which still requires an official minecraft account.
We have never — and will never — support unofficial or cracked launchers, because we do not support people pirating the game.
Just because it 'worked in the past' does NOT mean that it will work now, and we will not provide help for those on these launchers.
When installing for a specific version, you must run the vanilla profile of that version first. (If you want version 1.15.2 you must run vanilla 1.15.2 at least one time)
While not required, a third-party file extractor, such as winRAR, is useful during the installation process.
Please try to consult this guide before asking for help. If you encounter any issues please join our discord where we will be able to reply faster.

Before installation, Aristois must be downloaded by one of two ways:
Method One: .zip File
The .zip file is the current install method that is on our download page.It is a .zip file that contains a folder with a .json file in it. There is not supposed to be a .jar file in this .zip.
Step 1: Visit the download page.
Step 2: Click the 'Free Download' button. (unless you're a donor)
Step 3: Wait 5 seconds and press 'Skip Ad'
Step 4: Choose the Minecraft version you want to download the client for
After choosing a version the .zip file should automatically start downloading.

Method Two: .jar/.exe Installer
This method is used for installation with 1.8.9 - 1.12.2, snapshots, forge, fabric, rift and MultiMC.It can also be used if the .zip method does not work.
Step 1: Visit the Installer page for the download links.
Step 2: Choose either the .exe (For Windows) or the .jar file (All supported OS)
Please note that you do not need both files. You only need one of the two options.

This installation process should be used by people who want to install Aristois without any additional modloaders. (forge, rift, etc)

This is simply because the .exe file does not have a certificate. We guarantee that it is safe, and you are free to check yourself.
